Ceremonies for Families
Whether large or small, happy or sad, all sorts of occasions are worth celebrating. Ceremonies give you an opportunity to pause and reflect in the midst of a busy life. They provide precious space to look around and really see. Ceremonies allow you to discover the heart meaning -- emotional and spiritual -- of events and of the moments you will never have again. They can bring families and communities closer together.
Among the many family ceremonies that I can create for you are:
- Baby naming (baptism)
- Adoption celebration
- New home warming
- Old home farewell
- Moving into an assisted living facility
- Milestone birthdays
- New business or partnership
- Ribbon cutting
- Civic ceremonies
|
Anniversaries
- Family reunions
- Pet ceremonies
- Coming-of-age
- Graduation
- Croning
- Change of season
- And others. . .
|
As with other types of ceremonies I write and perform, when you call me we will begin with a complimentary meeting, where we can play with ideas and make sure that we will work well together. We then will have additional meetings or phone calls and e-mails to craft the ceremony. I will guide you at every step as together we discover the appropriate words and rituals to mark your special event.
Family ceremonies can be completely secular, or they can include spiritual or faith-based elements. Perhaps we will import some flavors from other cultures. You have the final say on everything in the script.
Once you approve, I will be there to officiate at your celebration. These can be warm, enriching moments filled with love and meaning. They may be the beginning of a beloved tradition. What would you like to celebrate?
