Weddings and Ceremonies for Couples
What an exciting, love-filled experience a wedding is! A well-crafted wedding ceremony allows you to savor the moment as you step over the threshold of this major life transition. Such a wedding can reveal to you the profound meaning of the experience. It also underlines the support you have from those around you as you make this significant change.
What happens when you call a celebrant for this very special observance? We begin with a complimentary meeting to share ideas. Once we agree that I am to be your wedding officiant, I will give you and your spouse detailed questionnaires to fill out separately at home. Don’t worry about this – it’s actually a lot of fun. Not only are the questions interesting, but the way the two partners answer the same question is often delightful. Sometimes the answers are very different; at other times, they’re almost identical. Either way, your responses are one of the many threads that will be woven into your ceremony.
A celebrant ceremony differs from a conventional wedding in that it is created just for you. Your wedding service will be custom-made to reflect your values, your expression, and your life. Whether you prefer formal or informal; traditional or very nontraditional; religious, spiritual or civil, I am here to listen to you and to help you fulfill your vision. As a nondenominational minister and a student of many kinds of rituals, I can also create a ceremony for partners from two different backgrounds, combining traditions from each.
Because Connecticut law makes same-sex marriages legal, it is my distinct pleasure to officiate at this type of wedding, for out-of-state couples as well as for those from CT. I also happily prepare commitment ceremonies, hand-fastings, vow renewals, and milestone anniversary celebrations.
Incorporating your ideas and wishes, I will shape the ceremony and write a script. This is your unique event, and you have the final say on every word. We may send the script back and forth a few times as we edit and polish until everything feels “perfect.”
Then, on your wedding day, I officiate at the ceremony while you, your spouse, and family take center stage. These are powerful moments. You will treasure them!
